THE OPPORTUNITY
How might we create more ways for our community to connect with and participate in Terry Fox’s legacy?
From local businesses to young children, we saw an opportunity to create meaningful and accessible ways for everyone to get involved, build awareness, and strengthen the community around the Aurora Terry Fox Run.
HOW WE ACTIVATED THE COMMUNITY
THE MINI MILE
We brought the Terry Fox Run to a local daycare, giving children a fun first introduction to Terry’s legacy. Toonies for Terry made giving simple and accessible, showing that even a small contribution can make an impact on cancer research.
TERRY FOX PARK
We visited Toronto’s Terry Fox Park to bring Terry’s story beyond the run, creating another way for our community to connect with his legacy and the cause behind it.
$46 FOR THE 46TH
We invited local businesses to donate $46 for the 46th Annual Terry Fox Run, building community support through local outreach. Along the way, we also secured food donations from a local coffee shop, Harvey’s and COBS Bread for run day.
AURORA FARMERS’ MARKET
We brought the Terry Fox Run into the heart of the community, connecting with residents and community leaders such as the Town Of Aurora Mayor at the Aurora Farmers’ Market to build awareness, encourage donations and create excitement for run day.
4.6K FOR 46 DAYS
I ran 4.6 km for 46 days in support of the 46th Annual Terry Fox Run, sharing my journey on social media to build awareness, engagement and donations.

WHAT I LEARNED
Small actions create collective IMPACT.
This project taught me that UX is ultimately about creating meaningful ways for people to participate. If billions of people believed their individual impact was too small to matter, nothing would change. By designing accessible touch points, whether $2, $46, 4.6 km, or simply showing up, I learned how small interactions can collectively create meaningful change.
